Helen Schucman, a psychologist from the Columbia University, started to write down things that she claimed that she could hear from Jesus itself and, it was over 40 years ago and now the texts that she wrote has been published into a book, "A Course in Miracles". Helen had an assistant and named William Thetford, who had then helped her to type down what she wrote after hearing the revelations. This thought simply arises because you are trying to choose between the wrong sides of our mind. The right mind of the Holy Spirit is neither found in the 'right side' and the 'wrong side' of Ego. Once you have made a new choice or perceived the effects or consequences, it becomes another layer which leads to error. This simply means, with every move you make about choosing or perceiving about things happening around the world, you choose to believe the ego about it also it leads to more errors again and again. As consecutive effects get together you start believing in the error so occurred.
According to Jesus, one first only judge a tree by its fruit that is also mentioned in the Course in Miracles, when you check how the fruits taste in your life, if you like it you can continue, if not then you can stop reading A Course in Miracles. However if you are able to see changes in your life after reading the texts, then you can continue reading it more and increase your experience about life, truth and peace and joy.
